TEMPTU was backstage at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week bringing flawless, healthy, dewy skin to the forefront of this Spring’s makeup trends. Though the looks for Lorick, Risto, Max Azria, Wayne, Herve Leger, and Gant were as diverse as they were gorgeous each look’s foundation (no pun intended) was a timeless, flawless face.
Lorick’s Sun-Kissed City Girl:
For Spring 2011, the girly silhouettes of the LORICK Collection called for a simple, subtle glow to mimic the femininity of the garments, while creating an overall serene and calming force over the whole collection. To achieve this simple, sun-kissed city girl glow, lead makeup artist, Deanna Melluso, used TEMPTU AIR pod Foundation for a supple, dewy, and flawless texture to the skin. Melluso then applied AIR pod Highlighter in Bronze on the outer edges of the apples of the cheeks for contour and a warm shimmer. To complete the look, AIR pod Blush in Peony (one of our NEW Spring Blushes) was then AIRbrushed onto the center of the cheeks. The result – an effortless flushed glow that would be at home in the center of a bustling city or an artist’s dream.
Risto’s Robotic Romance:
Designer Risto Bimbiloski is well known for his obsession with all things celestial, so it’s not surprising that his Spring-Summer 2011 collection was all about the moon. To compliment Risto’s Moon inspired collection key makeup artist Max Delorme created a romantic, ethereal, futuristic look, which he described as a “robot woman”. To create this futuristic look TEMPTU AIR pod Foundation was applied all over the face including the lips. Delorme then used TEMPTU RETOUCH in Blushing Coral on the temples and eyelids finishing off the look with a dot of aqua liner on the lower eyelid. The coral and aqua worked together as complimentary colors to create a vibrating optical illusion with the eye that can only be described as out of this world.
Max Azria’s Dewy Angels:
Backstage at Max Azria’s Spring 2011 collection, the look was clean and simple, almost as if the girls just piled their hair up as they got out of the shower. ”The makeup is clean and minimal, but still healthy looking,” said key makeup artist Lisa Butler. A lot of wet-looking, transparent color was applied onto the skin, for a dewy effect that’s more modern then matte powder. Butler described the makeup application as being in a sort of backwards order, using TEMPTU RETOUCH Highlighters in Copper, Pink Pearl, and Champagne to create light color and definition without any foundation. For the perfect final burst of warmth, AIR pod Blush in Blushing Coral was applied to the cupid’s bow and bottom of the lip. The result – a dewy watery glow that is so much more than modern.
Wayne’s Raging Violet:
“The Wayne Spring Summer 2011 girl is like Pris, the Replicant, in Bladerunner; she’s smart, strong and dangerous, yet also a delicate and vulnerable flower” explains designer Wayne Lee. Just as the character Pris airbrushed herself in the film, the TEMPTU team, along with key makeup artist Danielle Fonseca, airbrushed the models to create a “fresh natural look with presence.” The stars of this look were the TEMPTU AIR pod Highlighter in Champagne and two new editions to the TEMPTU makeup line AIR pod Blush in Peony and AIR pod in All Over Bronzer.
Hervé Léger’s Effortless Beauty:
For Hervé Léger’s intricate and sculpted Spring 2011 collection, key makeup artist Lisa Butler and TEMPTU worked together to create a perfectly pretty, yet effortless look. By delicately blending highlighters and TEMPTU AIR pod Blush in Soft Peach, Butler achieved a clean, sweetness to enhance the models natural beauty. Washes of TEMPTU RETOUCH Highlighter in Pink Pearl were then used to sculpt and modulate the face, as well as the body. “Today’s highlighters are no longer disco-y looking, they are more real and flesh toned,” states Butler.
Gant’s Modern Marilyn:
Max Delorme, key makeup artist for TEMPTU, created the makeup look for the Spring 2011 GANT by Michael Bastian Collection inspired by “old Hollywood Glamour”. Max Delorme described the look as “a time where women were innocent yet strong.” To turn the face into the perfect canvas TEMPTU Undereye Concealer was applied for coverage and then followed by TEMPTU AIR pod Foundation for a flawless finish. Delorme then applied a strong eyebrow coupled with a strong lip – both coral and red. “The face, lips and brows are modern – the face is flawless, the lips are matte, the brow is airbrushed not drawn. When you see the eyebrows, and when you see the red together, it makes the girl look quite powerful,” says Delorme.
