New York Fashion Week begins tomorrow, February 10th. We thought we would welcome Fall 2011 Fashion Week by looking back at our looks from last fashion week.
There is no doubt that Crystal Renn has taken the fashion industry by storm. After reinventing her image as a plus-sized model in the summer of 2003 and penning her first book, Hungry, which documented the model’s struggle with compulsive exercise and fasting, Renn signed with Ford Models and soon emerged in Italian, American, and French Vogue with her new and fuller figure. As of late, Renn has been flaunting her curves in a fashion campaign for Jean Paul Gaultier, and even landing the front cover of Glamour’s June 2010 issue with fashion and sports megastars, Alessandra Ambrosio and Brooklyn Decker.
The December-January issue of Vogue Paris, which is guest-edited by fashion guru, Tom Ford, showcases Renn as a cougar on the prowl, spoofing the uprising of plastic surgery. Decked out in jewel tones and animal prints, Renn mimics the over-the-top trend with long, lacquered acrylics and heavy, dramatic makeup. With dramatic results like these from makeup alone, who needs plastic surgery?
