Feel your Best in 2011: Part Two

Recently, we featured seven tips on how to feel your best in 2011.  Today, we decided to keep the tips coming, providing you guys with suggestions that are really important to keep in mind.  Remember that the new year is all about changing your perspectives for the better; it’s about doing better for yourselves because you deserve it!  And so, without further ado, here are our seven final tips for living your best life in 2011.

- Get some Z’s: Try heading to bed a little earlier during the week.  Record your favorite shows, and set your alarm clock so that you can get the full seven to nine hours of rest that you need.

- Wash Your Face: Be sure to wash your face every night to avoid waking up to breakouts in the morning.  A clear face can help boost your self-confidence!

- Pay off that Debt: Today, the economy is still not in the best of shape.  National debt is at an all-time high, and many Americans are struggling to make ends meet.  Despite the state of our economy, it’s always a good idea to make a plan for paying off any debt that you have accumulated.  Whenever attempting to pay off debt, take baby steps, otherwise the process may seem overwhelming.  For instance, focus on trying to pay off small balances first, or if you’d like, focus on paying off debts with high APR rates.  Whatever plan you commit to, take the time to evaluate where you’re spending your money.  Are you eating out a lot?  Are you purchasing items at the mall or online?  Where are you spending your money?  Really take a look at your finances and cut out anything that you can ‘give up,’ like a Starbucks latte.  If you make plans for cutting out unnecessary spending, then you can use the money that you saved for paying off that store credit card.

-Buy a Planner or a Calendar and PLAN: Everyone has busy lives these days.  We have to go to work, pick up the dry cleaning, cook, and tend to the kids and animals, among other things.  When we are on the go, it’s really hard to keep everything in order, so that’s where a daily planner or a calendar comes into play.  Do take the time to write down important dates: birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, or weddings.  Write down when your bills are due, too.  The key to living a happier, more fulfilling life is to be less stressed, and by planning, you are minimizing some stress.

-Create…a Living Will: There, we said it.  While we’re on the subject of planning for life, we also have to plan for the inevitable, which is something that we don’t ever like to think about.  However, it is so important to take the time and carefully make a living will.  Think about what you would want to happen if you had a health emergency.  Do you want to be recessitated, or do you not?  You need to let your loved ones know your personal wishes so that they’re not confused about any important decisions that need to be made in times of crises.  Also, make sure that you list who or what organizations you would like to hand items down to.  Again, we know that this is an awkward subject, but it is absolutely necessary to think about.  Make sure that you have a lawyer look over your Will, and let loved ones know where your Will and all other important details are located.  It is really better to be more safe than sorry, and in this case, we want you to be safe.

-Schedule a Trip to your Mechanic: Oh, the dreaded maintenance on our vehicles.  The oil change, the brake and tire checks, blaah!  Taking your car to the mechanic is important to help ensure your safety and help maintain your car’s condition.  Obviously, if you don’t have a car, then read on, because this next one will apply to you!

-Refuel your Engine: Start the year off right by eating foods that are low in calories and high in antioxidants.  Consider making small changes to your diet.  Add some strawberries to your food one day, or even blueberries.  Eat small portions (think fist size) of lean meats, like chicken, or Laura’s Lean Beef.  Also, try scaling back on the carbohydrates.  While carbs give us energy, several are loaded with high amounts of sugar, which can actually make us gain weight, so just be careful about how many carbs you’re consuming throughout the day.
