Unusual Blush: Trend in the Making?

June 28, 2011  |  Inspiration

There’s no doubt that a touch of blush can take your look from drab to fab.  This season there has been a bright boom of hot pink and fuchsia dominating the catwalk and our cheeks.   Although bold, these beaming hues still manage to give off a natural, subtle and traditional glow when applied to the apples of the cheeks. But oh what a difference when you apply your blush a few inches above or below your cheekbones!

The general beauty rule for blush, practiced by makeup pro and consumer alike, is that proper placement is on the apples of the cheeks.  Yet by the looks of the latest runway shows, we’ve noticed standard blush application straying far from the norm. At the Marc Jacobs Fall 2011 show François Nars created an icy cold cheek by drawing down the blush below the cheekbone almost to the jawline.  While on another runway, Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony Resort opted to for her models to sport their blush around their temples .

Could this fad be your new way to get a fresh flush or should it stay on the runway?  Do you think this new runway trend is a beauty must or a beauty bust? Let us know!!
